"Deciding to declare bankruptcy was one of the toughest I decisions I have ever had to make. If you ever find yourself in the position to need a bankruptcy lawyer do yourself a favor and call Jay Meyers. I do not know where I would be right now if I didn't. I was referred by another attorney who couldn't take my case and that chance phone call saved me. My case just completed and I can get on with my life and put a bad chapter of my life behind me. A few of the things I appreciated: Quick to call me back. No nonsense. Answered all my questions. Walked me through the entire process. When I thought things weren't going to go my way, Jay helped to keep me positive. It goes without my saying that things went my way but if they didn't I would have appreciated his help just the same. If you are ever in the unfortunate position that I was in a few months ago, do yourself a favor and hire his firm. I cannot go on enough about much he helped me. I think I thanked him 50 times, well count this as 51. Thanks Jay!" - JK

"If even CONSIDERING to declare Bankruptcy or if being foreclosed, YOU MUST RETAIN JAY MEYERS. You would be making a huge mistake if you pass up his services. Not long after a consult will the phones stop ringing from creditors. Case was filed before I could check if things were status quo. JAY IS THE BEST BANKRUPTCY ATTORNEY." - LG

"Mr. Meyers handled a construction accident for my husband who was seriously injured. Through a very tough time he stayed in touch and kept us informed of his vigorous efforts on our behalf. We are very pleased with our result." - JG

Liberty1“We were impressed with how knowledgeable Mr. Meyers was.  He negotiated with our bank to lower our mortgage balance, so that we could sell our home which was in foreclosure. This helped us avoid the stigma of a  foreclosure auction and allowed us to move on our own terms. Since then he has represented us in the purchase of a new home and handled the financing through his funding company. Simply put he helped us get a fresh start.” - GF

“Mr. Meyers and his staff treated us with respect and courtesy and helped me settle debts and avoid bankruptcy.” - PT

“I never thought my wife and I  would get out from under a mountain of credit card bills, we did by filing for Chapter 7 and we got to keep our home and 401Ks! I feel like I can breathe again.” - AP

“As first time home buyers of new construction we didn’t know what to expect. Jay explained everything and made sure we understood the process and what to expect along the way. – JK,SK

“Jay is truly a professional. Always responded to every phone call, emails  and at times text messages. Was always upfront and truthful concerning  my case. If there was a roadblock he explained what were the necessary  steps to correct them and move on. Never did I feel I was alone. I  recommend him 100% to anyone who is in need of an attorney.
Thanks Jay!!!” - SB

“Extremely competent and very down to earth. Mr. Meyers handled a bankruptcy and foreclosure litigation. Both turned out very well for me.” - Kim

KEEPING  THE LATEST GENERATION OF KNESELS AT HOME  ON KNESEL STREET

It was sometime in the 18th century that the first Knesels settled in this corner of Staten Island.  Like many of the early German settlers they found the topography and soil of Staten Island suited them well. Generations came and went. Lumber and coal were added to the family businesses.  In time, as is often the case, the land was largely sold off. Despite the ever diminishing property lines,  there was continuity as Knesel descendants continued to live  on what became known as Knesel street,

Most recently Jude Knesel continued  the tradition, as his forbears did before him, by raising a family in a  Knesel Street home, the very home he grew up in. Economic setbacks resulting from the economic implosion of  2008 led Jude and his family into foreclosure.  For the first time in centuries the unthinkable possibility that Knesel Street would not have a single Knesel living there became a real possibility.

Our office  was asked to help. It took a bit of time and a lot of effort.  There were least 12 Court appearances,  all part of a vigorous winning legal defense, but we are thrilled to say that the Knesels are no longer in danger of losing the family homestead.

We hope other Knesels will continue to enjoy the their  proud legacy for at least a few more centuries!
